SMPP
PageOne supports SMPP Server connections using the global 3.3 standard SMPP and is ideal for
customers who want a simple and quick way to send large volume SMS messages to UK and
international GSM Mobiles.
What is SMPP?
SMPP stands for “Short Message Peer to Peer”, and is an open industry standard messaging protocol used to connect directly to a SMSC (short message service centre). SMPP connectivity is normally used by businesses for high volume bulk SMS sending.
Benefits
-
2-way messaging - Both the termination (MT) and origination (MO) of SMS is supported. In order to receive SMS, customer applications will need a dedicated phone number (MSISDN) allocated to it. PageOne provides a dedicated phone number to customers to enable them to do this.
-
Reliability & Security - A PageOne SMPP connection provides both a reliable and a direct private connection to the PageOne Wireless Messaging Network.
-
Increased Efficiency - SMPP connections allow for permanent connectivity to PageOne saving customers time in having to perform ad hoc posts via the Internet.
-
Capacity - Establishing an SMPP gateway allows customers to send large SMS message volumes quickly and easily to UK and International GSM phones.
-
Reporting - Information provided back on delivery receipts include whether a message sent has been “Delivered”, is “Pending” or has “Failed” in its delivery to the intended recipient.
Upon request users can be provided with intermediary delivery receipts providing almost
instantaneous acknowledgement of whether messages have been accepted or rejected by the
Network Operator.
